The sky isn't the limit—it's just where we get started. Let the weekend edition of New Wave take you to the highest heights!

May 20, 3:40 AM EDT — Falcon 9 | Starlink Group 12-15
Scheduled to launch from SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This mission will deploy approximately 23 Starlink v2 Mini satellites, including about 13 equipped with direct-to-cell connectivity, into low Earth orbit .

Voyager 1 revives backup thrusters before command pause
NASA’s deep space engineers have done the orbital equivalent of fixing a ‘70s car with spare parts from a VCR. The long-silent roll thrusters on Voyager 1—out cold since Mean Girls was in theaters—just got a second life, all to keep the spacecraft pointed home before Earth’s antenna goes dark for months. With residue-clogged fuel lines threatening to mute the interstellar overachiever this fall, JPL pulled off a high-stakes hack to keep the 47-year-old explorer talking. Sometimes in space, the best backup is 20 years old. Full story here.

Rocket Lab’s Groundbreaking Mission to Deliver Cargo Across the Globe Using Space Rockets
In a sci-fi-meets-supply-chain move, Rocket Lab and the U.S. Air Force are teaming up to turn the Neutron rocket into the next FedEx… from orbit. As part of the AFRL’s REGAL program (yes, it sounds royal for a reason), they're aiming to launch cargo across the planet via space—and then land the rocket like it’s just clocking out early. Think global logistics with a splash of interstellar swagger. ETA: no later than 2026. Full story here.

Ex-NASA Official Breaks Decades-Long Silence on 'Flying Saucer'
Cape Canaveral, Classified—and Possibly Extraterrestrial: A retired NASA flight surgeon just dropped a 30-year-old bombshell: he claims he saw a 20-foot flying saucer inside a locked hangar at Cape Canaveral. No rivets, no jets—just smooth curves, eerie levitation, and "U.S. Air Force" stenciled across the hull. Dr. Gregory Rogers stayed silent for decades… until now. Whether it’s black-budget tech or something not of this Earth, one thing’s clear: the skies over Florida have stories to tell. Full story here.
IT’S FRIDAY Y’ALL ~ LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED

✧ The Read ✧
Space 2.0 by Rod Pyle is your backstage pass to the new space race—this time fueled by billionaires, boosters, and bureaucrats in a zero-g showdown. From SpaceX’s rocket rodeos to NASA’s strategic reboot, Pyle lays out how private enterprise, public investment, and global ambition are rewriting the playbook for leaving Earth behind. If you think space is still about dusty moon rocks and slow shuttles, this book will slap the launchpad right out of your nostalgia. Bold, brainy, and sharply written, Space 2.0 maps the high-stakes frontier where Silicon Valley swagger meets orbital ambition. Check it out!
